Regular Checkups

Regular Checkups In Wauchula, Florida

Wauchula Dental is your home for regular dental checkups. We encourage all of our patients to visit our practice at least once every six months for a routine examination and teeth cleaning.

These visits are very important for maintaining positive oral health, as they give our experts a chance to get an up-close and in-person look at a patient’s teeth. They allow us to check for any problems or issues that may have developed since the patient’s last visit. Additionally, the cleaning that we provide during a regular checkup is deeper and more thorough than what is possible with normal brushing and flossing at home. Each regular checkup also includes an oral cancer screening and when necessary, digital X-rays to check for any problems.

Full Examination

The first part of a regular checkup is the thorough examination. Your teeth will be closely inspected to check for any signs of cavities, decay or deterioration. We will also check the gums to make sure the patient is not displaying any symptoms of periodontitis. Our findings will allow us to create a personalized treatment plan for the patient so that they can receive the best possible care. In some cases, a follow-up visit may be necessary for proper treatment.

Professional Cleaning

A professional teeth cleaning removes buildups of tartar and plaque between teeth and on their surfaces. The process involves using special dental tools to gently scrape away any harmful material from the teeth. We will then cleanse and polish the teeth to remove unwanted surface stains and to provide the patient with freshened breath. Overall, this careful and detailed process is highly effective in helping our patients maintain positive oral health.

X-Rays

We use X-rays to detect problems and issues that may not be visible to the naked eye. By using radiography devices, we can take detailed images of the teeth and other oral structures. Our experts will then closely examine these images in order to determine if any hidden issues are present. We can also show the images to the patient in order to better explain any findings. Some of the issues that are commonly found using X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration, oral cysts and oral cancer.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer is a serious health condition. While there are certain lifestyle factors that increase one’s risk of developing oral cancer, it is impossible to predict when or if the disease will occur. But when cancer does develop, the condition is best treated when it is caught early. That is why we carefully examine all patients for oral cancer. We check the face, tongue, throat, gums and other soft oral tissues for any signs of the disease.

Digital X-Rays

Taking digital X-rays is the best way to detect any problems or issues that may be hidden from the naked eye. We use advanced radiography devices to take detailed images of the teeth and oral structures. The images are then be uploaded to a monitor so that any important findings can be studied and shared with the patient. Some dental health concerns that are commonly detected using digital X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration, oral cysts, and oral cancer.
